Gloucester is situated in the Cape Ann area on the north shore of Massachusetts. Founded in 1623, Gloucester was one of the first English settlements that was part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Gloucester played a key role in shipbuilding and it is stated that the first schooner was built there back in 1713. The nationally recognized Gorton’s Fisherman seafood product has been based here for over 100 years. More recently the fishing community has been used for the set on the movie “The Perfect Storm” starring Mark Wahlberg, another Massachusetts native.
Gloucester is known for several points of interest in this historic community including The Sargent House Museum, Cape Ann Museum, Norman’s Woe and Ravenswood Park.
